Excellent food, perfect and very calm location. No hotels in this area, it's totally natural. Staff was very helpful and kind. They also offer very beatiful trips. Recommend snorkeling and diving and lunch in sandbank. Equipment of the rooms was practical, enough for africa travellers :) Very helpful man was Dr.Mudy.

peaceful island, nice and friendly people, helpful staff.....what is lacking in facilities, more than that makes it up with charm. nevertheless, it is tidy and clean. we had personal treatment as we were only guests at the time and in times we had feeling that we were alone on the island. great thing is walking around island when tide is... We spent three nights here over Christmas: it was very basic (only solar power, no fans so pretty hot) but the staff, food and setting were utterly perfect. We loved eating every night round the table with the other 6-8 guests, the staff were always really helpful and made great recommendations, and all in all it was incredibly relaxing. Definitely... We were looked after extremely well during our time at Chole Foxes Lodge. The lodge is quite unlike any of the other hotels/resorts on Mafia, all of which seem to cater for high-end diving expeditions. Instead, this gives you the opportunity to see Tanzanian life in a more remote corner of the country, walking through the little villages of Chole... More

We loved Chole Foxes. You will too, if you come with a spirit of adventure, patience and tolerance. It is owned and managed by local people, unlike most of Mafia’s lodges. It is a work in progress; the manager Mbaraka has started on a shoestring and is steadily trying to build a good little lodge. He is a good communicator... More

this place is like extension of the village, with three different bungalows. there is no electricity, but you can at night to give the owners to charge their gadgets. in the peak of summer it is difficult to sleep at night - it's too hot without fans or aircon. there's no beach at the place, but in the morning guests... This is not a luxury hotel - don't expect amazing facilities or infrastructure. There is no hotwater or electricity (save a solar-powered LED light for the night-time), only a basic shower where the water is slightly brackish and curtains etc. may be worn or torn... Generally the main part of our room was clean, though the bathroom could definitely have... More

Beautiful location, absolutely promising, but.... The place was absolutely left alone except for a lazy cook and a very nice and helpful yet brand new and unexperienced 17y old. Our room was a mess with rats on the false ceiling and less then clean sheets (don't forget you're paying still 50usd for a double with bf so you should be... More
