The lodge has the best views of the crater. I am amazed people mentioned the decor of the lobby because I just couldnt take my eyes off the crater. Excellent view from each room. I came out of the bathroom to find a reedbuck grazing just outside my window. A little while later spotted 2 marshbucks grazing 6-7 feet away....... more

The rooms? The only thing I recall was the spectacular view over the crater through our picture window (on a par with the viewing gallery and a huge Wow!) and the blinding dusk and dawn pictures I took from the fully opened windows. Look at the ones I've attached - and someone moaned about the hotel chandelier!! Oh yes -... more

I stayed at the Ngorongoro Lodge in October 2009 for one night and loved the place. The rooms have been upgraded since the government privatized the hotel and the architecture and ambience is what you would expect when you are on safari. The lodge is clean, comfy and has the feel of a wildlife lodge. While the restaurant is small,... more

As part of our OAT Safari we stayed two nights in this lodge. It was a pleasant stay but the place does need some updating. The rooms are very small and very dated, this lodge really needs to have their rooms completely redone from top to bottom. I did enjoy the large lounge and the wonderful deck overlooking the crater.... more

Stayed here for 2 nights in August 2009. Upon arrival you walk in to a lovely lodge with a view of the Ngorongoro crater. Then you look up and notice the cheesy glass balls hanging from the ceiling. It ruins the beauty of the lodge, but oh well. Bring a jacket!!! As they always leave the glass doors to the... more

Take the view away and you'd be left with nothing special, with dodgy rooms. But luckily the view remains more

Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge has the absolute best location and best value of the properties on the rim of the crater...and I have stayed ALL the properties on the rim. I have been on about 12 safaris in East Africa over the last 10 years and have seen dozens and dozens of camps and lodges. When I was there in April... more

The place has just been renovated, so everything is brand new. The lobby area, the bar, restaurant, tv room, are all new, built in a cottage style, all in wood, truly spectacular! The rooms have a full glass wall that allows you a full view of the crater. The bar on the terrace is absolutely amazing! Food was good (mango... more

Fantastic view from room and bar verandah. Renovated, shame they used laminate flooring in the corridor. Watch the bar waiters. They gave us TS2,500 change on a TS7,000 bill paid with a TS10,000 note. "Sorry, miscalculated". Believe it if you like. At the time we visited there had been a major change of management in the Wildlife Lodges, so you... more

This was the best hotel we stayed at while we were on safari, although the room was basic, it was clean and had the most awesome view I have ever seen! The general sitting area was well furnished and looked very comfortable with excellent decorations adorning the ceiling. There is also a outside balcony area with a telescope so that... more
