Contrary to the earlier reviewer, the pool is not something to discount after you've been biking around in 30+ degree heat. It really seals the deal. Good place to rest at midday between expeditions around the ruins. But contrary to another reviewer, the power supply is, like most places in Burma, hardly dependable. Outtages are frequent, though concentrated during the... more

Lonely Planet describes it as “the best midrange comfort in Nyaung U”. If that’s the case, stay in Old Bagan. The hotel has its own generator which is a definite plus, given the frequent power outages. All bungalows are “superior” with a choice of twin or double beds, and have a TV with only one English channel – HBO (the... more

Good mid range hotel in the heart of the local town, Nyaung Oo. Nice room size and features. Only hot water at certain times and the satellite tv was temperamental, but that’s Burma for you! The pool setting was nice but you’d be a fool to waste time by the pool in Bagan! The staff here were very polite and... more

This was our favorite hotel of our trip to Bangkok and Myanmar! We had seen it recommended on Trip Advisor and Fodor's Forums and were going to just book it on the fly. We ended up booking it through City Holiday Travel (inside the Central Hotel, Yangon) at a discounted rate of $26/night. We had room 8-029. These units are... more

I'm not sure if the previous reviewer was actually staying at the Thante Hotel in Nyaung Oo. We had a polar opposite experience there this past May and would most definitely stay there again without giving it a second thought. We paid $24/night by pre-booking through Radiant Tours in Yangon (other travel agencies should be able to get you a... more

We stayed one night It is old, tired, smelly, dirty and, at US$35 per night, overpriced It is the usual result of a Lonely Planet recommendation. The owners know a steady stream of foreigners will arrive and do not have to try to provide a decent product Avoid at all costs more
