El Quemaito hotel is located about 10 km south of Barahona, on a cliff overlooking the sea. The hotel territory is not very large but very beautifully organized and maintained. There is a small swimming pool and plenty of space for chaises longues.

The hotel is located in a very scarcely populated area, so you can be sure you will not be disturbed by any signs of human presence outside the hotel. Beaches are scarce and pebbly in this part of the country, the nearest beach being about 5 minute drive away (we were told that it's about 10-15 minute walk but we never felt like trying).

There are no restaurants or other attractions within walking distance, but the owners offer delicious dinners made of fresh local products (ask for fish! :)

The hotel is owned and managed by a very nice Swiss couple, who only speak German and Spanish, so be prepared to some communication problems if you don't speak any of these languages. But I must say that the owners really did... more
