Spent 4 days relaxing at the Winston with my wife and 18-month daughter. The guest house is in a quiet and safe residential suburb of Simon's Town, about 1km from the penguin viewing at Boulders Beach, set just off the sea front but with magnificent views from the bedrooms and the pool area.
This is also a great base for exploring Cape Point, Table Mountain National Park, and it's not a long drive to Cape Town (40 minutes if I remember rightly). You definitely need a car to stay here - even to get in and out of Simon's town. This was unfortunate for us, as Hertz messed up our car rental and left us without a car for the first 2 days. The owner/manager Mike was extremely helpful here, arranging transport for us where needed and even giving Hertz a piece of his mind over the phone (and probably speeding up delivery of our car!).
