described as close to Sandton and deluxe country residence, old shabby and uninterested staff, new building poorly built, owners private zoo in middle. first room was filthy and next one in new building had door that needed kicking shut, windows that didn't shut and a/c that wouldn't work (and staff didn't know how to work it!!). taxi to nearest restaurant... more

We stayed here in August 2008. It cost 550Rand one-way from the airport in a taxi, which at the time was about $65 dollars US. The front desk isn't available 24/7 and they lock the entrance. This hotel was a fantastic find. In a town that can be very frightening to the foreigner the Zulu Nyala was a sanctuary in every way. Set in lush grounds you can wander at will looking at the Zebras , birds and Sprinbok, are single storey thatched african style accommodation.
