Compared to some of the other options in Bwindi, the Buhoma Community Rest Camp is a fraction of the price, although (obviously) far less luxurious. We stayed in one of the bandas with shared toilet facilities. The banda was clean and simple and fitted with two twin beds and mozzie nets. This is basic accomodation but clean and comfortable. You get tents with attached bathrooms. Five of them are right next to the jungle. We were told occasionally the gorillas came to visit in the middle of the night. The places were clean and they supplied flashlights, candles and bug spray. Electricity ran from 7 PM to 7 AM. I recently stayed at the Buhoma Community Rest Camp which is situated right next to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park Headquarters, so it is very convenient for gorilla trekking. The bandas are built on the hillside overlooking the forest, and the grounds are lovely. The accommodation is either in bandas (little huts) or permanent tents, and some of these... more
