We set out to plan for a trip to Mcleodganj because we'd heard so much about it, about His Holiness Dalai Lama chosing this over other places as his home in exile, of the wonderful eateries that had mushroomed thanks to the booming spiritual tourism, of people of all races and religions having a good time! We just had to... more

On arrival we were amazed at the exquisite Tibetan wall painting and furniture in our suite. The accommodation was extremely comfortable although the small bathroom needed an update. The only downside was the 1:5 access from the road below (or a rocky path from the road above) which would prove impossible for someone with mobility problems. The Tibetan staff were... more

The hotel is located up a lane from the main temple complex and taxi-stand, and within walking distance of the town square. The rooms are beautifully decorated, staff service is efficient and unobtrusive. My room had a fridge, mini-bar, incense burner and incense, and an electric heater. An excellent attached restaurant, craft store, and email access. more

After living in Dharamsala for 2 months I decided my last 2 nights would be spent in the comfort of Chonor House. It really is a beautiful small and unique hotel well appointed with Tibetan themed rooms and beautiful art. My only complaints are that the beds in the Bird Room need some attention as they are pretty worn out... more

This is a small unique place run by a Tibetan exile foundation, not professional hoteliers. It is unique place architecturally and all rooms have distinct Tibetan themes. Although the building, designed by a British architect, is only a few decades old, the interior has not been well kept. We stayed in the suite (at a cost of about $85/night) and... more

Chonor House is a great place to stay in McLeod. Conveniently located and run by the most friendly of Tibetan people. The only thing I would improve is the condition of the bathrooms (at least in Mythical room), but apart from that this place is a gem. The restaurant serves great food and has a nice view (watch for the... more

A stay at Chonor House is by far the best experience, for one simple reason, it is an art gallery right from the reception, the restaurant, to your rooms. The service provided was by far the best we experienced and can be compared with the best luxury hotels. Our rooms "Lhamo Opera" and Trees and flower" were well equipped with... more

A stay at Chonor House will be one of the highlights of your trips to India. During the first part of our trip to India, we met so many people who had tried to book this place and couldn't because it was fully booked. We were lucky. It is a real oasis with a calming atmosphere. All the rooms have... more

We spent just one night because the very expensive room was too much damp and smell of mildew and the view (considering that it was their "best room"..) was the back of the hotel! Even the unpaved and steepy path to reach the hotel is dangerous specially during the night or when it rains (often). The room in itself was... more
