To start with the positives: - Very nice building, an interesting place to stay - Hotel has nice view of the town below - Rooms were clean, shower was good - Nice balcony to sit out on - Staff was friendly (based on reviews I wasn't expecting much from them but the staff here were exceptionally friendly, even in the... more

One of the more impressive of the Paradors, this is housed in an ancient castle overlooking the town and Ebro Valley. The interior is quintessentially parador-style, very familiar to those who have stayed before in this hotel chain, and has little to do with the castle outside. Comfortable, rather old fashioned, warm, quiet, and with lots of polished stone in... more

This hotel enjoys a spectacular location, high above the town of Tortosa and the valley of the River Ebro. It is a little difficult to find as it is not signposted in the town until you get quite close. Once there, however, there is plenty of car parking space and some very good views. Reception staff were quite pleasant and... more

We had been told that this wasn't one of the better Paradors, and that the food was bad. We found this not to be the case at all. It was the fourth Parador we stayed at during our visit to Spain, and we found the rooms clean and of a good size with a decent balcony. The bathroom was large... more

We were there for 3 nights in June/08 and our experience was positive. Good rooms (not big but adequate, nice, traditional furnishing, decent bathroom, balconies overlooking pool); well-maintained common areas (free wifi in lounge and bar); helpful front desk staff (provided maps, suggested a good beach, spoke adequate English); good food (excellent selection at breakfast, not store-bought so maybe this... more

Spent one night at this hotel, and the best thing was the breakfast orange juice. Paradors are government-owned and it shows - a complete lack of innovation and little interest in the customer. Only by making specific requests was anything forthcoming - no information (maps, etc) was made available, although one member of staff did make an effort when asked.... more

We throughly enjoyed our 3 nights at this parador. the room was clean and spacious and beautiful balcony with a great view of Tortosa. The bathroom was huge by European standards, with a bathtub, and very clean as well. We really enjoyed the restaurant as well, where (because it was the off season and local restaurants were closed) we dined... more

I stayed here twice, on 23 and 29 October 2007. Room and bath fine each time. However, reception brisk but unwelcoming. Bar and breakfast staff likewise. Breakfast very poor for a Parador - everything was "shop bought" and in packets or tinned (apart from some very tired pieces of fruit). Coffee dull, eggs hardening, no tomato for tostada. And, to... more

This parador is one of the most attractive, both externally and in its classic interior design. Built in the shell of the castle, and with unrivalled views over the old quarter of mediaeval Tortosa and the River Ebro (including a bird's eye view of the much under-rated cathedral), it has space, a pleasant garden and ample car parking. Rooms are... more

We have just come back from yet another trip to Eastern Spain. We started off by flying into Santander (a new route for Ryanair) hired a Scenic and drove to Tortosa via Calahorra, Alcaniz and Benicarlo. We stayed in four Paradors in total over 5 nights. The scenery was stunning, except around Zaragoza which was very drab. We were high... more
