We stayed at Allerton House for 6 days and could happily have stayed much longer. We received a warm welcome and the accommodation and breakfasts were excellent. Our room was very comfortable and contained every facility you could wish for. Allerton is conveniently situated for local restaurants and, after the meal, one can relax in front of the open fire.... A very lovely place to stay. Chris and Carol the Proprietors were a lovely couple who made our stay very enjoyable. We stayed in the Castle Room which was stunning with all the mod cons you need. The bed was the most comfortable one I've ever used in a weekend away. The whole place was very relaxed and the breakfast... More

My husband and I came up to Scotland by train to pick up a new car. We booked into Allerton House for one night only arriving late Saturday afternoon. We were warmly welcomed by Carole and were shown the dining room and lounge and then shown to our room. The room had everything to make our stay as comfortable as... More

My friend and I stayed here for the second year running whilst we were touring Scotland on our motor bikes. The bikes were left outside the main entrance to the hotel which is in a quiet location, safe and secure. The hotel is within a few minutes walk into town where there is plenty to eat and drink, Chris was... More

Thank you for your feedback. We are always happy to welcome bikers (and cyclists) who seem to be pleased to find secure off road parking (or a lockable shed) and the short walk into town means that you don't have to don leathers and helmet again to go out. We are glad this is a return visit and hope to... More

At the end of a long days walk (20miles) this was so much better than any oasis. The welcoming was sincere, even a sherry if one wished, the room was just great and the bathroom and bath was more than any traveller could hope for. There was a good nights sleep and an excellent breakfast, The location is so convenient... More

We were booked into Allerton House when walking St Cuthbert's Way. We liked it so much that when we'd finished the walk, some of us came back for another two nights! Carole and Chris are excellent hosts and helped with everything from driving routes, to places to visit and eat. The rooms are extremely comfortable (superb mattresses!) and we probably... More

This was our second stay at Allerton House, with our first being in September of 2008. Our first trip was amazing and we weren't disappointed on our return this trip. Our room, "Mary Queen of Scots" was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and plenty of food. The hosts were helpful and fun to talk with, providing valuable insight... More

Allerton House certainly has the wow factor, from the charming and friendly hosts to the comfortable bedrooms and lounge. The room facilities are excellent, as is the breakfast (try the porridge witha splash of Glayva!). Throughout the house there is a feeling of hosts who have paid attention to detail to make a very special B & B.Highly recommended. More

We stayed for one night on the St Cuthberts Way. Chris kindly collected us and delivered us to Harestanes. We had a large comfortable room which we would have been pleased to stay in for longer. Chris and Carol were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent. The packed lunch which we requested at a moment's notice was particularly good.... More
