7 of us stayed at Allerton House during our walk from Melrose to Lindisfarne. It was a real treat to have a comfortable lounge area to meet up in and the added bonus of a log fire and a whiskey decanter! My room was on the ground floor, extremely comfortable and a lovely bathroom. Breakfast here was the best we... More

Stayed as part of St Cuthberts way. At the end of Day 1 it was lovely to stay in a very high end , beautifully decorated, comfortable BnB run by lovely couple. Having walked 19 miles I was slightly footsore(!) and they picked me up from the centre of Jedburgh. Excellent breakfast. Quite pricey for the area but reflects the... More

We have just returned from a visit to Jedburgh on business. We stayed at the Allerton House and it was better than most 4* hotels we have stayed in. The room was perfect, the reception was extremely friendly , bed was just too comfortable, did`nt want to leave it and the breakfast was superb! I would definatley reccommend this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel on a cold weekend in February, 2013. The welcome was warm and friendly. The decor was of an extremely high standard in both the bedroom and the lounge, where there was a complimentary dram of whisky waiting for us, if we wanted it (we don't drink whisky). The bathroom decor was equally sumptious with no... More

I've eventually found the time to write this review as we stayed for one night in September on our way back to home from Aberdeen after a 13 hour ferry trip from Shetland. Allerton House is quietly situated but only walking distance from Jedburgh attractions. We had the Queen Mary Suite which was a lovely size room with small kitchen... More

Faultless ! This was our second visit to the Allerton House and we were not disappointed. The rooms are spotless with lovely extra touches . After walking all day we came in to a lovely woodburning fire in the dining/sitting room. Breakfasts on both days perfect. Location is ideal for a walk into town for dinner booked both nights by... Stayed here 2 nights whilst walking Borders Abbey Way. Very attentive hosts, high standard of rooms, service and breakfast. Lovely sitting room with a log fire and 'refreshment' decanters awaited us on our return from walking both days....a most welcome sight! I would highly recommend this lovely B&B and I will be back!

We stayed in the Castle room at Allerton House for 3 nights recently. As others have said, we were given a warm welcome by Chris and Carol and shown round the house. The room was lovely with a very comfortable bed and everything was spotlessly clean. Chris' breakfasts were a highlight of the stay - the poached eggs were brilliant!... More

Stayed here on September 15th and booked a single and double room through the Tourist Information Centre in Jedburgh. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Chris and shown to our rooms. We made our way down to the lounge area where we were offered a wee dram or sherry ! great touch. The rooms were very nice and we... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Allerton Guest House and B&B in Jedburgh is a welcoming Georgian house set in a lovely, sizeable garden giving the impression that it’s in the middle of the country when, in fact, it’s just off the Main A68 trunk road and only 5 minutes’ walk from the centre of the attractive Borders town of Jedburgh. With just six rooms (one fully equipped for people with disabilities), the atmosphere is personal and informal whilst the standards come up to those required in these modern days for both business and leisure visitors. The spacious rooms are all en suite and are equipped with free wi-fi, digital television, an Ipod dock, iron, hairdryer and, of course, tea and coffee making facilities. Your hosts, Chris & Carol Longden, enjoy serving a really good breakfast (with healthy and vegetarian options) using locally-sourced ingredients such as St Boswell’s Black Pudding, Denholm sausages and free range eggs. There are some really good local restaurants and bistros and the fish and chip shop is excellent – and all just five minutes walk away. ... more   less
