One the web the outside looked fine. It was £60 for a standard double room or £65 for a superior room.
We arrived and we shown to our room which was very dated and the electrics were a hazard (Electric light switch on INSIDE of bathroom!!). We were not told about when breakfast was or anything but that didn't matter.
It was 5pm and decided to have a shower. There was no hot water!! The house hasn't central heating and so I assume the immesion heater had rum out of water.
They were then cooking in the hotel kitchen and they opened the door of the kitchen which was near the stairs to let the smoke out and the smell of fish fat filled the hotel. Our clothes smelled of it and the hotel smelled like a chip shop all night.
Also when someone used water in the next room the sound if the pipes was awful. The hotel should be refurvished or shut down very disappointed

I stayed at the Glenbank Hotel with my husband and 6 yr old and was more than happy with the hotel. They have a small off road car park which provides safe and secure parking. There is also a little bar area which is child friendly if you want to have a drink and socialise in the evening. Also, an outdoor seating area. The resturant food was outstanding and you are given a full english breakfast in the morning. The staff are extremely friendly. The hotel is excellently located for local sightseeing or as a base for travelling further afield to Edinburgh etc.
The rooms are very basic. We had an en-suite room which had a toilet, sink and shower. Our family room contained a double bed, single bed, wardrobe and a TV. We also had tea/coffee making facilities.
This hotel is a great choice for those who do not intend to be in their room. It is great as a base for sightseeing.
