We stayed for one night at the Tongue hotel on our trip to the north coast. We booked a superior room through Booking.com, probably for the price of a standard, which I think is what we got. The room was a good size and clean but a bit old fashioned with a bed was small. There was no wonderful view... More

Their brochure claims 'Worth the journey'. We stayed here for six nights towards the end of March 2013 and were cosseted by Lorraine and David (the owners) and all their staff. Nothing was too much trouble, even down to arranging special meals for us due to medical needs. We did not wish to go out for more than two or... More

Stayed at the Tongue Hotel for the weekend on the 22nd and 23rd March 2013 and had the best and most relaxing break in years. David and Lorraine were the perfect hosts and their staff were fantastic. NOTHING was too much bother and everyone went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Can't praise it enough. We... More

My wife and I were on a driving tour of the coastline of Scotland and planned to stopover for a night due to its convenient position, roughly half way across the North coast. It's situated on the inside of a hairpin bend, but our sleep was not disturbed by any traffic. It's a shame the outside of the hotel has... More

We stopped off for a drink and a light lunch after a long drive and had a lovely warm welcome from the owners here. We arrived just in time for last lunch orders and ate in a small bar area which was lovely and had lots of interesting antiques dotted around. We all wished we were staying nearer the hotel... More

My partner and I only stopped one night in Tongue and picked the hotel as it has an interesting background (a converted hunting lodge). The owners have done a brilliant job in maintaining it and in places restoring it. There's still work to be done but you can see that the hotel is going in the right direction. The bedroom... More

We were absolutely delighted with our find! I travel a lot and like to find unexpected hidden places! This is one! I have been to Tongue before- for lunch at Ben Loyal -better this time but have no idea how this gets higher rating than the Tongue hotel. This is a class apart. So very beautifully decorated, wonderfully warm, and... More

A fantastic base for exploring the Northwest Highlands, nice & peaceful, with the most surprisingly world class restaurant! The view from our very roomy & comfy "Castle Varrich" room, over the Kyle (& the Castle) was superb. We just loved this place, & hope to return one day....
