The Claremont is a great hotel despite the reviews. Room was clean, updated, big, with a great view. The Paragon patio for drinks and appetizers is perfect spot with a great view of SF and the Golden Gate. The pool and resort have to be the best in the Bay Area. The Claremont is not the cheapest resort and you... more

For the past several years we have stayed regularly at The Claremont when in the East Bay for business. Staff is very friendly and helpful.. The common areas of the hotel are beautiful. The Spa is great but pricey. We always get a bay view room with two beds; the rooms are consistently quite small. I was excited when we... more

went to Berkeley for our granddaughter's graduation from Cal Berkeley. Beautiful old hotel with many rooms remodeled. Our first room was very noisy as they were remodeling on the floor above so they changed us to a room in the spa level. It was lovely. Be sure not to get a room near the remodeling as it is very noisy... more

$229 for the smallest hotel room I have EVER stayed in + $24 resort fee + $24 parking fee = a waste of your money. Not only was the room tiny, but it was incredibly musty and had a view of the roof of another part of the hotel. Sadly, our room was supposedly not the most modest one; there... more

We recently stayed at the Claremont Resort for one night. I thought I got a good deal (approximately 50% off the listed rate) through Priceline, but it turned out not to be the case. From the outside, the resort looks impressive, but once you stepped into the room, it was quire disappointing. The quality of the room is at about... more

Following a snafu awhile back, we were gifted with a night at the Claremont! Fifth floor of the tower, a suite with views on three sides -- champagne and chocolate strawberries with "happy birthday" stenciled on the plate.......free access to the resort....this place is amazing. We were treated as royalty! The staff were very professional, and accommodating. A great experience! more

Just stayed here again. They initially upgraded us to the spa floor, which is I think the 7th floor which is actually below the lobby. Do NOT stay on this floor. I think the restaurant is one floor above it. It was very loud and you could hear people walking around all night and morning. It was miserable. The front... more

This hotel has huge, glitzy public areas, and all amenities are outrageously priced. (Example: one pot of coffee from room service: $12.95, plus 22% gratuity and $3.50 delivery charge). But my room was scarcely larger than the bed. It was next to the service elevator, and a supply closet with a light that was left on all night and shone... more

I stayed at the Claremont once before and wondered why it was, that with all the bad reviews they were getting here and elsewhere, that they didn't try and upgrade their service. Well, I guess it took this bad economy to encourage employees to be helpful and courteous. There was an extreme shift from the last time I was here... more

I was nervous after reading other reviews of this hotels. But since I paid only $89/nt through Hotwire I figured it couldn't be too bad. I have to say I had a great time. I knew about the $24 resort fee before I booked on Hotwire so there was no surprise on that charge. I had my 6yo with me... more
