Well, after reading all of the horrible reviews, we were not expecting much. We were given a family suite, which had a king sized bed in the bedroom, and a twin and a queen in the main living area. here was a fridge to keep our beers cold.It was definitely run down, but the price was great, as was the... more

I read terrible reviews of this place and had already booked it. I figured I had to try and see what happened. Now I was going with my daughter and friends for a weekend away before school starts. We were planning on being outdoors the whole weekend. When we arrived the location was perfect. Across the street forom the only... more

My husband and I went to a time share pitch and received 2 nights free at the Thundercloud resort. We only had to pay taxes which amounted to $7. We read all the bad reviews, so we packed accordingly. We brought a large fan, extra pillows, blankets, and towels, an ice bucket, etc. We were booked into Room 132 (See... more

This is one of the 2 worst hotels I've ever seen. Honestly, I can't believe that it's still open. I'll start with the outside -- peeling paint, an empty pool with brackish water, trash, and crumbling concrete. Still, we went inside. Inside -- the best word I can use is "yuck". The paint was peeling inside as well. Lead poisoning,... more

The charge was $169.00 daily, and the hotel is very dirty, the mattress are in bad conditions, we found in the inside bed food from the past guest (cookie), and also in the bathroom soap from the past guests. There was not hot water enough, the covers were broken, the doors of the shower don't run , the water key... more

I saw all these reviews after I stayed there and was astonished with what people were saying. First off, everything else in Big Bear was twice as much money (YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR...CHEAP A$$e$) When I got there Ricardo was so friendly and very accomodating. The room wasn't like a motel 6 where you feel like you are... more

Do Not, I repeat DO NOT book this HORROR place and Do not let the pictures fool you. We had such a horrible experience at this place. Upon check in we were actually being put in a different room that was located a block away next to the Bowling Barn. When I first walked in, the enviorment seems a little... more

Thundercloud Resort in Big Bear CA. is the worst place we ever stayed at. We decided a few days before MLK weekend to check out Big Bear. We were pretty stuck for a place on a holiday weekend, but the website pictures and description looked nice. But it is Awful! It looks very run-down on the outside, but we thought... more

We were skeptical after reading the bad reviews and not quite sure what to expect. In the end we were pleasantly surprised and very pleased with our accomodations. I am guessing the bad reviews were from people who are used to staying at $400 a night suites at fancy hotels and are slightly uptight. Great location, friendly staff, fast check... more

If you are looking for a place to close your eyes and fall asleep at the end of a long day, then the Thundercloud Resort is for you. Just make sure you get a screaming good deal before you pay. The manager, Ricardo, was nice and helpful at check-in, during our stay, and at check out. But otherwise, this motel... more
