This is a gated community: a group of condos surrounding a private golf course, about 5 miles out of town, with a variety of available rentals. Ram's Hill went belly up (2005?) and was purchased by Montesoro who finished construction of the golf course and some of the fancier properties. Condo owners rent their units through the central agency: you do not meet the owner or even know his/her name. The agency contact was very helpful and quick to respond to a minor problem (a plugged drain in the garden following a record rainstorm).
We rented a 2 bedroom apartment with full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, living room + cable TV and a nice view of the desert, for 10 days in January (total cost was around $3200). No pets, no smokers; good heating system (we needed it) and central A/C. Most units have a 1 week minimum, but it depends on the owner.
