We must have hit the lottery, because we stayed in mid-June and the temps were only in the high 80's during the day. Usually they hover in the triple digits. And, most likely because of the normal temps at that time of year, only two other couples were staying there. It felt like we had the Inn to ourselves. We... more

We stayed for 3 nights. This is where you want to stay in the desert, a peaceful low-key inn in a lovely desert garden setting, not in a golf resort with ecologically inappropriate green grass everywhere. The Inn is surrounded by beautiful desert plants; the excellent pool looks over the desert to the canyons. Room very comfortable and service pleasant... more

Even though the Inn is right near the heart of town, since it's on a lot of acreage, it's very quiet and feels very secluded. The desert landscaping is beautiful. They have the best showers and the best breakfast of many places we've stayed. The adobe construction makes the rooms very quiet -- we never heard another guest from inside... more

Pricey for what you get. Rooms are OK. Clean and functional. For $250 a night I expected something more lux with amenites. Furnishings are functional but cheap. Decor is southwest 'lite'. Cheap serapes. Inoffensive and forgettable 'art'. Clientele very geriatric. Clothing optional pool is unheated and too cold to use. Pools small with little shade and again, cheap and flimsy... more

The Borrego Valley Inn was one of the highlights of our trip through SoCal. I would say that the website does not do it justice; it was even more attractive than we could have imagined. The whole setting is beautifully landscaped and decorated, plus there is an aviary with small birds (we forgot to ask what kind they were). It... more

Stayed here for 2 days to celebrate my wife's birthday. Seems everyone here is on the same page that this is a great place. It's so true about the serene surroundings, quiet nights and stars. I think one reviewer said you can hear in the distant a faint cry of the coyotes at night I have stayed in Borrego before... more

Having never been to the desert I found Borrego to be a beautiful place to relax AND have some fun. The Inn is beautiful with the mountain scenery all around and rooms are decorated beautifully and very comfortable- I love the fireplaces and the privacy of the back patios. Breakfast was fresh and healthy! AND the owners and employees are... more

We just returned from a wonderful, relaxing weekend at BVI--a great spot from which to explore the California desert. Both rooms and grounds at the Inn are immaculately kept, and (having forgotten to bring swimsuits!) we enjoyed the choice of a clothing-optional pool and spa. I note that one reviewer wanted a better breakfast: we happened to be guinea pigs... more

Everything others have said I echo: lovely room with many special touches, quiet, hot tub great on cold nights, property very well kept and attractive, accomodating and friendly staff. Agree that the breakfast should be improved considering the cost of the rooms and the quality of the inn; other than fresh fruit salad, none of the food is notable. Also... more

This was our 4th stay at the Borrego Valley Inn (BVI). The second time under the current ownership. Borrego Springs is a sleepy little desert town with a few hotels/resorts and a few restaurants. The BVI is a true diamond in the rough. The BVI's grounds are beautifully desert landscaped with native plants and a central cage full of finches.... more
