The room was spacious, with the only problem being that the floorboards were very noisy when one walked on them. The bathroom was already showing its age and needs some fairly simple cosmetic work. The food in the restaurant was very good. Perhaps the best part of our stay was the very friendly service. We stayed at 6 hotels while... More

The hotel is a bit of a distance from town but most hotels seem to be in this city. We stayed in the same building as the reception and on the top most floor. The room was spacious with three single beds. The most disappointing thing was the bathroom. It was very windy and all the dusts came in. The... More

We stayed at Janka Resort twice and couldn't be happier. Its charming architecture and its Bhutanese spirit is exactly what one would expect from a hotel in Bhutan. Rooms have all the necessary comfort, food is delicious and service is great. Smiles and kindness everywhere. Yes, it is outside of Paro (10 minutes drive) but, honestly, after a long, exciting... For Bhutan just right no luxury warm rooms hot water clean and most important great staff who help you in any way that they can. Great location outside Paro. Too far to go into town without a vehicle but not sure you would want to at night other than to visit the Explorer restaurant for great Pizza. internet provided FOC... More

The hotel is located on a small side road, a few hundred meters away from the road from Paro to Drukgyel Dzong. It is situated amid rice fields that dominate the valley. There is a large former family home, a newer building (4 floors) that is the core of the hotel and there are separate rooms in a smaller building... More

Some of the better resorts in Paro are up on the hillsides or a little further out from the town. I picked Janka for my group because it is down in the valley and easily accessible from "downtown" Paro, where we had work to do. The views from the rooms and the dining room are lovely – Janka is surrounded by... More

Overall, a good experience. We spent two nights there in a room in the main building. Comfortable and warm rooms and the hotel is within walking distance (20 mins) of Paro town. Residents can order off the a la carte menu, which gives options beyond the buffet in most tourist restaurants in Bhutan. Staff are friendly and helpful.

I returned to Janka resort for my second stay, it lived up to my expectations. Again I was travelling with a group and it was high season, The group were very impressed with this family run establishment, the service was excellent, the staff very friendly and helpful. The food, yes the dreaded buffet, was good with a number of local... More

We had little say about specific places to stay in Bhutan (it depends on the influence and quality of your tour opearator), but really enjoyed our stay at the Jankar Resort. Ok not a resort, just a very authentic local guesthouse in the countryside ten minutes drive north of the cosmopolitan centre (no, just small average town) of Paro, the... More

This lovely family owned "resort" is set in the rice paddies a few minutes out of town. so you won't be walking into town. The main building has charming, beautiful rooms, all different sizes, and the "courtyard" rooms are one story, set in a garden, quiet, and peaceful, not quite are architecturally charming, but very modern and comfortable. good bathrooms...
