We have family in Carmel and have traveled there a number of times. This lodging is a basic choice that offers convenience but no romance or special qualities of its own. Stayed in one of the premium rooms on first floor with a balcony. Room looked recently refurbished although they hadn't done the bathroom. Large room with king sized bed plenty of space with easy chairs and table in room too. Booked through hotels.com the day before and got a good rate. Even better than I remember (probably has something to do with the new management)!! The Carmel Sands has recently been freshed up which makes it an even better find than before!!! Great location, comfy new beds, walk distance from all shops/ restaurants and the beach and even has an on-site restaurant with room service! more

I recently stayed at Carmel Lodge with my dog for a weekend get away. This hotel was a lot less expensive than the place I stayed last time, but was still clean, safe, and in a great location. This is a great place for families because it's location to downtown and the concierge service points you in all the right places. Room are very cozy which is important if you've got kid(s). Had a very nice time and didn't break the bank! more

My fiance and I stayed here with friends for a friend's wedding nearby. We stayed in the "premium rooms" which were a bit pricier but worth the extra cost - our friends stayed in the standard rooms are just great too.
