We stayed at the LaPlaya Hotel in November. It is a very quaint hotel but the rooms are tiny, the windows are old and drafty. The bathrooms are little and who ever does their room maintenance should be fired. The sink was dripping all night. No elevator The staff was pleasant but the Grill restaurant employees are rude. more

La Playa is a picturesque hotel with an old town charm. It's conveniently located 2 blocks from the beach and maybe 4 blocks from the Carmel downtown. We really enjoyed our stay there. more

The accommodations were wonderful (especially after a free upgrade to an oceanview room because of some street noise outside my window). The food was fabulous, and most important of all to me was the incredible service provided by every staff person I dealt with. They were helpful and gracious at every turn.
