Upon arrival we felt more as if we were staying at a kind relative's house, rather than a stranger's. We were welcomed and made to feel right at home--like we'd know Anna for years. She gave us fantastic advise on which wineries, restaurants, and local attractions to visit, complete with maps and coupons! The breakfast and dessert Anna made was... more

Great review...except for the comment about no air conditioning. All rooms and common areas have AC, it was 106 the days they were here, and with all the guests coming and going, I am sure some of the rooms were a little warm. The best part of the hot season is the evenings, when the temperature drops 30-40 degress!! That...

When we booked the Shelford House, it was like throwing the dice. We had never been to the Napa/Sonoma region. We had a few recommendations from friends, but most of the recommendations were quite pricey. We stumbled on the Shelford House while searching the internet and based on the reviews decided to give it a chance. We were not disappointed.... more

My husband and I stayed here for an anniversary and had a great time. It's for those who like the secluded countryside setting but enough nearby for a nice getaway. There are restaurants and wineries around the area and that kept us busy for the weekend! A very relaxing, cozy place with hospitable innkeepers. more

This is a comfortable B & B set in a rural area right in the middle of wine country. It is clean and comfortable. The owners are cordial and the breakfasts are great. The rates are very resonable for a B & B in this area. more

The Shelford house is very comfortable. We stayed in the Helen room and happened to be the only guests in the main house. The house was obviously very quiet, though this room is on the side of the house next to the road and we often heard motorcycles. It wasn't too much of a bother though. This room has a... more

We stayed there over Memorial Day for 3 nights in the Vera Room which is upstairs in the Carriage house, about 50 feet from the main house. The room was clean, plenty big and the bed was very comfortable. There's air and heat for the room but we didn't need either as the weather was very mild. There is a... more

While Shelford House is quite lovely and there are nice views of the vineyards, the fact that the B & B is right on a very busy and noisy road takes away from the appeal. The owners seem a bit tired of the business and for some reason my wireless internet service was blocked several hours before I checked out. more

Responding to this comment is very difficult. We are in the country, and yes, have morning traffic-locals heading to work, and kids going to school, will get more traffic if you stay at an Inn in town. As far as the internet not being available, that is not possible, it is always working, we do not limit the time you...

My husband and I, along with two other couples, stayed at the Shelford House and we all enjoyed it. We were able to have a seperate area in the second house. This was perfect for our needs. Each couple had a beautiful room with a very comfortable bed, and bath. We had our own livingroom to share as a group... more

My husband and I just returned from a 4 night stay at The Shelford House. What a beautiful place. The Victorian home is meticulously maintained (better than most luxury hotels I have been in) and each room has its own charm. We stayed in the "Helen" room and it had an attached bath with a large shower and a double... more

We stayed at the Shelford House (5-days, 4-nights) in mid-March 2009 and had a perfectly delightful time. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again or to recommend it to others. It's a beautifully maintained Victorian Inn with charming living and dining rooms complete with antiques and bookshelves. We made use of the library during our stay. When we weren't sightseeing... more
