This hotel is a must see; the building is beautiful and well preserved; the lobby is amazing; the restaurant and bar are on the beach where you can watch the ocean and peolpe at play. Food is excellent but a bit pricey.

Medical conference brought me to the Hotel Del Coronado last week. Nice place but not worth the money. Rooms average with views of beach over the top in price! I would stay down the street and walk over for a visit next time.

the locale is fantastic.....walking the grounds and the beach again fantastic....restaurants and shops were great....service was great...BUT...$505+ a night for at best a 3* room was a major disappointment...definitely not what we expected...tired and in need of serious updating...in hindsight i'd stay elsewhere and have a few meals there to enjoy the grounds

The grounds of the del are really wonderful but the rooms and service need updating - especially for the price that you pay. We were there for a conference and even with the conference 'discount rate' our room was still $300/nt, plus $15 fee, plus another tax, plus plus plus...it was crazy. I have no problem paying for nice hotel...

This hotel has been an icon in San Diego even before it was the location for the movie "Some Like it Hot". First-time visitors to San Diego MUST visit "the Del", even if only to stroll the grounds and see the old photos. Staying at the Del is another issue.
