We just stayed at Unit #30 at the Val d'Isere complex in Mammoth. The location is excellent next to the new Village complex and the gondola to Canyon Lodge. (The Village has lots of nice new condos including some within a Westin hotel).
Unit #30 at Val d'Isere however desperately needs new furniture and furnishings, not to mention new kitchen and baths. Except for a new fireplace mantel and some stereo equipment it doesn't look like it's been touched since the early 1980s.
Mammoth Reservations Bureau touted this as as Four Star unit ... it's hard to fathom how they can justify this: plastic glasses, dirty drawers, lumpy beds, old blankets, no internet and a dozen other features I could mention make this place not particularly pleasant to stay in.
Some friends renting another unit at the complex described their place as a "dump."
To be honest, Mammoth is overflowing with awful neglected condos from the 1970s and 1980s. But if reservations agents shouldn't... more
