We stayed for only one night on way to Yosemite. Room was of an adequate size but I was immediately put off by a smell in the room of hospitals. The location is good for Yosemite but there is nothing in El Portal so if you want to stay in a town, you may be better staying in Mariposa. more

Cedar Lodge is about 20-25 minutes from Yosemite Valley. The Yosemite View Lodge is about 15 minutes closer but about $70 or more a night more expensive.
