Writing this April 2009: New owner has let this place slide. Their website says refirbished rooms but that was 4 years ago. One towl for two people, bedspreads are torn, beds showing their wear. Grounds have gone uncared for, plastic furniture as far as the eye can see, dirty spa and a manager that would rather party with the guests... more

This is first and foremost a bar and restaurant. More money and staff resources are put to those two revenue generators. The "resort" rooms leave much to be desired and at $180, with months of dust on the formica, plastic bed sheet covers, old furniture and not ONE picture on the walls, I really wanted to check out. They were very good at redoing the place after the last flood. The rooms are OK, but cold. Locking the gate after 2am is not a good thing, hot tub has lots of NON-payers using it. Who ever said that the ownership was out to make money was so wrong -- post flood of '05/'06 all the rooms are brand new (great beds), bar and restaurant are new (and the food of Chef Micheal is oustanding). Beautiful scenery, charming village, excellent hotel. Had a great time, just sorry couldn't stay longer. Rooms completely refunished after floods last winter, and were very comfortable. Excellent meal in hotel restaurant, with very friendly and helpfull staff. Fantastic evening in the bar chatting to staff and fellow guests.
