This campground was super - the location is amazing... The beach is very wide in this spot. And it is much less traveled than the big sister campground Bodega Dunes. I thought Wrights beach was a wonderful surprise! I just ran across it on my travels down highway one. The sand was a beautiful black, and best of all, it you are at all fond of rocks, the pebbles on this beach can't be beat...forget Pebble beach, this is the beach for any rock hound! The location is great - right on the beach, up against the cliffs, sheltered by a grove of trees - but the surf was unbelievably rough. Our 7 yer old son almost got swept out, and it turns out theat 126 people have drowned here. If you forget about trying to hang out on this beach, it's a great location... more
