Forced to leave Oxford Inn & Suites because of kids running wild, raising havoc, & the Oxford's refusal to control the situation. Was able to get a room here & even though we paid more it was worth it. The Essex House also had kids from the sports event staying here, but did try to control them. It was a... more

Second time I've been required to seek sleeping accommodations. This time cause my furnace gave out and it was very cold in the Antelope Valley. I stayed at the Essex based on my past experience with the hotel services and staff. What I like best about the hotel is that it is quiet and staff is most accommodating. I would... more

Two night stay in a kitchenette-suite. The heater didn't work first night; so we called the front desk in the morning. Someone came by and couldn't fix it, but made sure to inform us that there would be no maintenance available after 5pm that day and they would try to fix it. Thanks for that tid-bit of info. We called... more

Booked a non-smoking room in early May for July stay, as part of a large group. Many other groups staying there also this weekend (sports, weddings) so we were told they were out of non-smoking rooms. We tried out the room...for about half a minute. Whole family would have opted to sleep in the car than stay in the smoking... more

The room was a bit on the dingy side, though quite large. The construction of the room could gently be described as "cheap motel." Other guests have mentioned being told about FREE features. I wasn't, though I probably wouldn't have availed myself of them in any case. This was just a place for some quick shut eye, and it helped... more

Lancaster is not a big city but if you need a hotel there the Essex House is the place to stay. We stayed there recently with a bunch of other family's from our son's Soccer team and had a great time. The rooms are fine ( I recommend the main building) but what makes this hotel is the staff. From... more

Stayed at the Essex while in town for a soccer tournament. The experience was okay, the Essex House isn't exactly a five star hotel so we didn't expect anything great. The room we stayed in was older, had a musty smell and upon removing the covers from one bed found a strange stain, it almost looked like the bedding had... more

I work for an aerospace company that sends me to the Lancaster/ Palmdale area frequently. I've been staying at the Essex House for 10 years and have never had a complaint. For the business traveler, the free wireless access can't be beat, the rooms are comfortable and very clean and the staff is courteous. Plus, the bar has a great... more

I work for UCLA and attended a conference at the Essex House this past fall. This hotel is wonderful! Truly a gem in the desert. The European style decor was charming, the staff was accomodating and the srvice prompt, polite and efficient. I also highly recommend the hotel's restaurant, JJ's Cafe. Its conveniently located in the hotel lobby and their... more
