When my colleague showed me Stay LA on the Website it looked pretty good. The truth is the Cecil Hotel has done a great job to re-brand itself as Stay. Stay is just a store front. After you walk in and check in you walk through another nondescript door to go to your room...you just walked into the Cecil Hotel... more

Experts will tell you that bedbugs are most often first brought into a hotel room in the bagage of a previous guest. The question is how the hotel is going to respond to the problem. Are they going to act with complacency or urgency? When we first heard about the bedbugs that were found in room 647, we were, at...

I was kinda worried about Stay because of some of the reviews on this site but i had a wonderful time at Stay! In fact i'm booking in again for 4 nights. The check-in is 3, but they'll mind your bags for you, the rooms are clean, and are cleaned daily too, they provide towels, linen and free internet/wifi in... more

The Stay hostel was pretty cute. Basic but clean - it was sort of like sleeping inside a furniture display at IKEA. I felt pretty safe there and really only have three negative things to say about it: 1) I didn't much dig the pungent smell of Raid that permeated the hallway outside my door (although I suppose it's better... more

We stayed here for just 1 night after a long train trip and it was a lot better than I had expected after reading some of the other reviews on here. Got a taxi to the hostel from Union Station for about $8-9 and was pleasantly surprised as I walked through the door. Very funky, clean, modern looking reception and... more

I used to live in L.A. about 10 years ago and between now and then steps have been made in the right direction when it comes to Downtown. Stay is one of those steps. Stay takes up floors 4-6 of the 15 floor Cecil hotel. 10 years ago this hotel was full with people from the neighborhood at the beginning... more

My husband and I were not expecting much in the way of extras, since we knew Stay was a hybrid hostel. Still, the hotel was much more basic and uncomfortable than we antcipated. The hotel does not have parking. You can park across the street in a pay lot on the weekends for $5 overnight, if you move your car... more

My boyfriend and I stayed here at the end of last year as the first stop of our round the world trip. Transport: We took the Metro from the airport to Downtown LA (which does involve a switch near Compton). It was a cheap way to get from the airport but I wouldn't do it alone or in the dark.... more

I was disappointed with this hotel. I paid for a room with a queen bed and a private bathroom. Instead, they gave me a room with a double bed and a shared bathroom. When I went to change rooms, the manager apologized for the error, but there were no open rooms with a private bath. He offered to pay for... more

I am sorry that this guest's experience at Stay was disappointing. He happened to check in during a week when the entire city was booked because of a convention. So, although we don't usually get business travelers at Stay, I can understand why it happened on this occasion. If you are a business traveler looking for a Hilton or Westin...

This budget hotel is suited for the singlet’s travelers, small groups or couples who are just staying for a few nights and want a hotel which is not going to break there pocket. It is very well located to getting around LA and suburbs with excellent transportation links nearby. You can reach prime attractions easily by the metro/bus. The hotel... more
