My first impression was favorable, we were able to pick from three rooms, got a great rate, and then when it came time to write and pay for the room reservation, they turned us away because we have a service dog with the required ADA registrations and identifications. I was told to go back on the following Monday with the... more
The Hollywood Downtowner Inn was a really good choice. I stayed there with my boyfriend for 2 nights. Its really near a METRO stop, only 2 stops to the main attractions and 3 stops to Universal Studios. The room was lovely, breakfast was great but I have to say the woman who owns the place is rude and [-] me... more
we trawled through loads of reviews and eventually booked this place. it was really pretty good, above our expectations. breakfast was good, great for out teengers who love donuts. pool clean and safe. rooms large, a little bit dated but very comfy. this is in a good location within walking distance of the walk of fame, not many places to... more
First trip to LA, stayed for three days the last week of July. Great location, free parking is a huge plus. Certainly not new but very clean and well maintained. Good value overall. On Hollywood Bvld but not really walking distance to anything, car is still recommended. That being said, pretty easy to get to any tourists spots (Universal, Beverly... more
This hotel is actually located in Hollywood, CA. It was a cute hotel, but the parking was very tight, as is all of Hollywood and L.A. We were in an area that was close enough to sightseeing in Hollywood, but far enough away from all the crowds. Our room appeared to be recently remodeled. It was small, but nice and... more

It, like so many old motels across this land, has been bought by a very nice family who is trying to attain the American dream thru lots of hard work. But that being said, it's still an old motel that... more
I stayed at the Hollywood Downtowner Inn June 26-30, 2008 and had a good experience. I had read previous reviews and found the staff to be helpful, including changing my reservation. My room was clean and I appreciated the refrigerator and microwave. Its not the Taj-Mahal and the neighborhood is not the greatest, but its a good value for the... more
We stayed at the Hollywood Downtowner for our entire week long holiday in LA. And had it not been for the location of the hotel, we would have had a difficult time getting around. No one walks in LA. Even the Sunset Strip people drive. The hotel was definatly dated, and our room had a funky stale/damp smell to it,... more
We'd gone to LA to see some friends so we booked something cheap and basic but centrally located. Everyone says you need a car in LA but we found it fine without. The motel is just a block from the Hollywood/Western metro (the LA version of the Underground) and for a reasonable price you can buy an all day pass.... more
