Many reviews here say the same thing... smelly everything, appliances that don't work, staff that's friendly but so unprofessional you'd swear they're still in high-school, dodgy area, and on and on. Don't be tempted by the price - for 20$ more per night, you can stay in a real downtown hotel. Also, the Kawada is Japanese owned, and they cater... more

We thought the staff were excellent and listened to what you had to say and helped in every way possible. The rooms were clean and tidy but they could have had a coffee machine somewhere in the hotel as it was hard to find a coffee late at night . Location was a bit isolated if u are from another... more

We were orginally booked in for 3 nights and only lasted one. The service from the front desk was ok and when you first check in the hotel looks ok, however the area it is in leaves a lot to be desired. Our travel agent booked us in as it was close to the Metro. When we arrived in the... more

Actually the size of rooms is very small for average Americans. Maybe right for Japanese!? ^^ And you do not have many staffs working for you since the management is cost efficient. And good restaurants are away. And a few homeless people walking once in a while on Hill street where the hotel is located. In summer time, open doors... more

We booked this place through our travel agent before researching it and after i read some reviews i decided it can't be as bad as everyone says but when we got there it was pretty bad. The place stank of something that we couldn't figure out, the bed covers and sheets looks so old and used and the decor of... more

I booked the Kawada before I did research on the Web which was a big mistake. Gave them the benefit of the doubt. I booked through an Aussie travel agent and the brochure for the Kawada looked good . It was cheap and we got a free nights accomodation included in the deal. The rooms are tiny, drab and depressing,... more

We went in holiday in LA for the second time in our lives, in June, and we stayed at the hotel Kawada for a week, we chosed it because it is cheap. It's a nice hotel, with nice bedrooms, clean, quite nice staff, it was very close to the subway Civic Center well linked with the most interesting places of... more

We stayed at the Kawada because my husband was attending a conference at the LA Convention Center and this was one of their "designated hotels." We should have known what we were in for since the hotel was the least expensive one on the convention list. It must have been a converted long-term stay motel because our room had a... more

We are two young italian sisters and we decided to come back to LA for the second time on june 2008, we were looking for a hotel that was in the centre but not too expensive and we found the Kawada. It is in downtown, just few steps from the subway, so is well linked with hollywood, universal studios, and... more
