This hotel is basically right in the middle of a freeway, there are no shops, bars, restaurants around it... We were told we were staying centrally, it was a $30 taxi to get into the centre (hollywood blvd) the hotel itself was basic. Couldnt open our balcony door because of constant noise of traffic from the freeway. The restaurant and... more

I stayed at the hotel angeleno this week and had a great experience. The front desk staff, particularly Edith was above and beyond in service and graciousness. The rooms were amazingly comfortable and restaurant was fantastic. All around, a stellar hotel and i will recommend the hotel Angeleno in the future. Mark Goldfarb more

Pros: * Central location off 405 freeway for UCLA, Brentwood, etc. * Remodeled Holiday Inn that is part of Joie de Vivre chain, which like some of its SF properties means generally good value while getting something a little different than standard chain hotel * Bar on top floor with decent views of city Cons * Central location off 405... more

Dear dwtn, Thank you very much for your comments about the hotel, both the pros and the cons. It's sounds like you have enjoyed some of Joie de Vivre's other properties as well. It appears as if you went to West on an uncharacteristically slow night. West usually gets a great, eclectic crowd on the weekends. Monday night, another great...

Everytime i travel to Los Angeles for work I stay at the Angeleno Hotel located near Sunset exit off the 405. It is my home away from home when i am in town. Besides the clean rooms, nice location, and great food and drinks at West, the restaurant on the 17th floor, the most important reason i stay there is... more

While it could be all about the location, which is itself reason to stay, this hotel is well appointed, conservative without being stuffy, modern without being pretentious. The building itself is so compact, and the space used so efficiently, I feel these qualities pervade the service and atmosphere, but in the best way. It is also likely that the view... more

We had stayed at this hotel several years ago when it was a Holiday Inn primarily for the excellent location (convenient to the 405, Westwood and Beverly Hills). When we returned to the hotel on this visit, we were amazed at the positive changes that had taken place under the new ownership. Beautiful redecorated lobby and rooms, very contemporary. Fantastic... more

Dear cowdogss, Thank you very much for your positive comments about the hotel. I will share your kind words with the entire team at the Hotel Angeleno, and especially the front desk, who very much appreciates the adjective "Outstanding" when it is in reference to them. At Joie de Vivre Hospitality, we pride ourselves in providing unique hospitality experiences and...

The staff at the Hotel Angeleno were very accomodating and nice. This hotel is very central to the best LA has to offer. A brief 10-minute drive to the heart of the Sunset Strip! The hotel itself is very trendy, the remodel was done VERY well as this property used to be an outdated Holiday Inn. Overall great place to... more

We thought our room was very nice. It was a king executive. We were on one of the upper levels and had a nice view out our window. The bed was wonderful. The room was contemporary. Bathroom was nice. We got a good deal at about $110/night, but parking was expensive at about $20/night. It was a good location. more

Dear BeethovenOdeToJoy, We at the Angeleno very much appreciate your positive comments about the hotel. I will share your kind words with our entire team. While I certainly understand your concern over the twenty dollar charge for valet parking at the Angeleno, I wanted to assure you that we conduct bi-annual pricing audits of the hotels in the area to...

All rooms should have coffeepot, should not be an upgrade. Door on the bathroom (sliding door) was hard to move. Did not have a showerhead that you can move....on a cord. The bedding was phenominal. The noise from the freeway was annoying, but it was so conveniently located, it was worth it. Hated having to tip everytime we took out... more

My husband had an interview at UCLA so we booked the Hotel Angeleno because of its proximity to the UCLA campus and free shuttle service the hotel offered (proudly advertised on their official hotel website). However, when we arrived we were told the shuttle was broken and undergoing maintenance. Ok fine...so my husband had to take a 15 dollar cab... more
