You are reading all these reviews to get an idea of what you are getting into... the bad reviews are wonderful to read because they do not represent the truth and that's wonderful because if more people knew how picturesque and out-of-this-world staying at one of the beach suites (on the sand) is then it would always be mobbed with... more

I stayed at this place based on previous reviews found on the web. I must say, I was a little disappointed. Upon arrival, the exterior sort of looks like a Super 8 hotel, only a little worse actually. The room was average with the plastic plant on t.v. and old, dorm room size fridge with circa 1980ish cream and peachy... more

Another guest in the hotel who was apparently mentally disabled tried to break into our room. We were on the line with 911 dispatch for 5 minutes before the woman's caretakers came and got her. The hotel owner refused to comp us for the night. He was very nonchalant about the attempted attack. Worst hotel experience of my life. more

I found the staff to be as accomodating and helpful as any top concierge. the facility is older but quite comfortable and the outdoor patio a relaxing place to read, nap or chat oceanside. If you want to feel the breezes and listen to the surf at night, request a room with windows that open (mine had a large picture... more

Booked this hotel last minute on day we travelled down the coast from Monterey. Absolutely loved it. It very quaint and if you are tired of the corporate hotel set-up and want something that makes you feel as if you are actually living the beach lifestyle, and as a bonus beach lifestyle in the 70's, then this is your spot.... more

What a wonderful place to stay! My husband and I stayed here one night for his 40th and I could have moved into our room permanently! We were in an beach/oceanfront room and you could not be closer to the ocean. We kept our door open all night and loved hearing the sound of the waves crashing. Our room was... more

I know people love this place because it is quaint and off the beaten path but I really was disappointed. The room was pretty bad..we didn't get ocean front but garden view and I felt like we were staying in some bad motel. The front desk was really nice and they gave us towels and fun beach toys for our... more

The place has all the charm and ambience of a motel6, with heavy traffic congestion of the Pacific Coast Highway breathing down your neck. Could use a major upgrade and is worse for wear. On the other hand, it is mad expensive. They want $435 for one night in an oceanfront room so small you need to step outside to... more

The Malibu Beach Inn was the best place to stay in Malibu - hands down. Location was excellent, the hotel was immaculate, and the beach was legendary. Staying here fulfilled all of my Malibu Ken fantasies on a reasonable budget, and made me feel every inch of the movie star. more

Wanted to add my 2 cents as I was lucky to find this gem on this website. I can only echo what others have said in the past about CM; notice really not one negative review about the Inn other than some personal contact issues not related to the quality of the place. Richard and Joan are simply fabulous owners,... more
