We just returned from a last minute stay of two nights at the Mendocino Hotel and Garden Suites in Mendocino, California, and we couldn't be happier with our treatment and experience there. We arrived without reservations late Saturday evening, and Dena, the desk clerk, was extremely welcoming and accommodating. She not only got us a room on this busy summer... more
We spent a great two weeks driving around California and Nevada, and stayed in all sorts of hotel. On our way south we ended up in Mendocino and loved the place and it's breathtaking location. Having seen the exterior of the hotel we wanted to stay there. The friendly lady at the tourist information helped us book a room at... more
We went day after Mother's Day and Dena at the front desk was a sweetheart, she was able to upgrade us to a wonderful suite for our friends and I. The dinner was incredible. The new chef they have is super, Best Salmon Ravioli I had ever had! After 11:00 we did get kicked out of the fireplace lobby area... more
The "Ceago" biodynamic wine makers dinner, was very good. It started off in the lobby, with a 2006, Sauvignon Blanc and a mushroom soup, in a shot glass. Dinner was in the lovely, Victorian, dining room. We then had, truffled Asparagus, herb salad with cured salmon, poached egg yolk and mustard emulstion, paired with 06 chardonay. Next was was, quinced... more
I joined an Elderhostel Program in Mendocino, a "National Historic" town on the rugged north coast of California. The Hotel faces the Pacific with magnificent views of waves, whales, birds and exhilarating walks on the headlands. My garden room was cozy and quiet, with a fluffy down comforter to sink into at night. Food is superb and the service without... more
Paid $200+ for one night. Ceiling paint peeling in bedroom (appeared to be water damage), cracked & peeling wallpaper, Home Depot style single sink vanity in bedroom, cracked tiles in bathroom, musty smell, etc. Hotel is in serious need of renovation. Staff was very friendly. We would stay somewhere else next time. more
We recently stayed at the Mendocino Hotel for three nights with our 11 year old son. We stayed in the back in a garden suite and found it quiet and peaceful. I was really craving quiet so that was a good thing. We walked a lot around town and found places to eat and shop and keep us entertained, and... more
I was a walk-in on an off-season weeknight. When I balked at the listed room rates they gave me better rate. The room was in the main building and small, but that is typical in a victorian era hotel and people needing very large rooms might not be happy. I didn't see the larger garden rooms. The room was clean... more
We stayed in room 320, a Garden Suite room, for two nights. The room was large, comfortable and clean, but it was not worth $275/night. We had a special two-for-one deal, so we paid $275 for two nights. The first thing that happened when we hung our coats up in the closet was that the bar holding the hangers crashed... more
