We picked this one because it was recommended by a well-known guidebook. All we can guess is that it recently changed hands. When we stayed in August, the motel looked OK from the outside but the rooms were filthy. The carpet was dirty and there were sticky marks and crumbs on the surfaces. The whole room had been shoddily spray painted with white paint, including over the power points and the dead insects on the dusty window sills! In the bathroom the toilet bowl was disgusting and only one of the four shaving lights had a bulb that worked. The shower was triangular and tiny making it very difficult to shower without bruising elbows. The proximity to the freeway and railroad meant that we had to run the A/C all night to drown out the noise. We didn't get cold, though, as we went to bed with our clothes on to ensure as little contact with the sheets as possible! And finally, the pool had been closed by the Health Department.
