We stayed at the Doubletree Hotel this past weekend. This hotel is probably the best you will find in Modesto. However, Modesto does not have much hotel choices to offer! We stayed in a corner Junior Suite Room. It is a pretty good size. Beds were comfortable. Downstairs bar was friendly and drinks were good. There are better bars and... more
The Doubletree is the main downtown hotel in Modesto, a high-rise in the modern area of downtown. It is a fine, modern, well appointed hotel with very good rooms. It is one of the predominant buildings in downtown Modesto. The nearby (1-2 blocks away) nighttime trains mentioned by other reviewers are certainly a factor if you stay on the side... more
This is a high-rise hotel in downtown Modesto, on highway 132, just a few blocks from Highway 99. Rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable, with scads of pillows. Amenities are of high quality (Neutrogena). Oddly, there was an iron and ironing board in the room, but no hair dryer. Windows did not open in my ninth floor room.... more
I have stayed at the Doubletree in Modesto on business about a half a dozen times over the last 3-4 months. The reviews that state that the Doubletree is the only real option in town are dead on. There's not much else in Modesto worth choosing. That having been said, make certain that they always give you a room on... more
We stay at Doubletree two or three times a year. We were born and raised in Modesto but moved away 35 years ago and return for family events. We have stayed in 4 other places but this is the best Modesto has. You are not in a metropolitan area...you are in the farm belt! They are in the process of... more
Hilton Hotels needs to take a look at their property. This hotel hasn't been updated in a LONG, LONG time ( my guess is at least 20 years). The doors in the rooms would not work ( no latch on the bathroom door and could not open closet as it was broken). The carpeting is badly worn (taped with duct... more
Stayed a weekend in Feb, 2005 nice big clean room with a nice view of Modesto Center Plaza. The problem is that they charge for everything you do. Just to make a local call you have to pay a one time fee and then 10 cents a minute after your talking, so useing your laptop with dialup is out, they... more
I have to agree with the others here that this is a nice hotel with large rooms and high grade furniture. And, the chocolate chip cookies are great! Also, thanks for the tip about getting a room with two vanities! However, the surrounding area attracts some panhandlers and other unlawful activity - and this isn't hearsay, I saw it and... more
We stayed for a week following a Marian Conference at the hotel, and it was wonderful. Beautiful hotel and excellent services. Very good food and very nice eateries within one block of hotel. The rooms were spacious and very clean. We loved our stay. The hotel staff were very gracious. more
