Traveled back to California for a cousin's wedding. Since I was traveling alone, wanted a safe location. Also looked for value & location. I got every I was looking for with this hotel. It was conveniently located in the heart of Monterey, a short drive to everything as I was also able to take in some of the local sites.... more

Pros: Spacious, modern and clean rooms. Fireplace in room. Free internet in all rooms. Cons: Location (a bit of a walk to where the action was. And besides: We would rather recommend people to live in Pacific grove, a 5 min drive away. SUCH a nice little town - and it's where you'll find all the best restaurants etc). The... more

Stayed 2 nights 3/4 Nov on way from LA to San Francisco. Hotel really nice. We had a junior suite and it was lovely. Free wi fi in room which was great for us booking hotels ahead. Sam on desk was really helpful and advised on good place to eat on Fishermans Wharf. We spent time in Carmel which was... more

I stayed for 3 nights and it was a very pleasant experience. My room was clean, pretty and quiet. The staff could not have been friendlier and more accomodating. The breakfast buffet was very nice (great coffee, too) and when I initially checked in they gave me a coupon for a free "snack" plate at the hotel restaurant. It was... more

Having never been to Monterey we didnt know what to expect of the hotels or area and how close ours would be to all the attractions. I must admit I liked being away from right down town. I liked having to drive and pay for parking to do all the touristy things tourist do. That being said it was only... more

The main advantage I found at this hotel was how comfortable the room was. The staff were very helpful in general. It is not a full service hotel, so there is no room service. There is, however, a restaurant service next to the lobby, for breakfast and dinner. It is located a short walking distance to downtown Monterey and many... more

We stayed for two nights and were very impressed. We picked the location due to the proximity to the aquarium and the good Trip Advisor reviews, and we were not disappointed. The hotel lobby and some of the rooms were recently done over in 7/09. The place is sparkling clean. The deluxe rooms are wonderfully designed and an excellent value,... more

Be aware that "traditional" means partially renovated rooms in the older bldgs. with old, tired hallways. They look nothing like you see on the hotel's website. I asked for 2 queens and was put in one of these rooms. We were disappointed. We went back to the office and was told that they had another room for $10 more. This... more

We stayed just one night, but I could easily spend consecutive nights here. The location is great. Free parking. Great value for what we paid for our room. I liked the updated decor. We stayed in a renovated room with two queen beds, flat screen TV and fireplace. Both the room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable. more
