Being in a hurry to find a place in Monterey for the weekend, I made the horrible mistake of not reading reviews of the Cypress Gardens Inn before booking. The place is a dump with a TV. We arrived in 100 degree heat and found the air condition not working. That seemed to be the case for other rooms as... more

We stayed one night at the Cypress Garden Inn, and although the pictures on the website do portray it in a much better light, it was a decent, safe, quiet place to stay the night. They are located in the middle of "Hotel Alley" and there are many other accomidations available in the area. We booked ahead and got a... more

For a place that claims to have had a complete overhaul in 2003 it is in need of major repairs. Dirty floors, dry rotted posts supporting the second floor, moldy showers, dollar store bath accessories and 2 prong worn-out electric plugs. Lots of street noise comes through single pane original sliding glass doors. And please don't get me started on... more

Immediately upon our arrival went to the office to be completely overwhelmed by curry ... Yes curry ... Frankly speaking I love eating curry ... But I do not wished to be "buried" in such an odor nor does it belong in any hotel/motel lobby or check in desk. For that matter, any 3-4 star hotel in India, did not... more

Rooms got cleaned but then absolutely stank of some strong cleaner or something masking horrndous b.o. After half an hour tho we didn't notice as we opened the windows. Decor absolutely depressing - brown/ beige spattered wallpaper. All the fittings etc really shabby and just made to do by a complete nutcase. Windows etc won't lock so they've nailed a... more

following a recommendation in LonelyPlanet, we stayed here for one night - it was uneventful and average. the service was pleasant, and the neighbors were quiet. the breakfast was dreadful, which I really didn't expect from an independent non-chain hotel, but there were many options in Monterey for a better meal. We got a lovely off-season rate of $59.95/night. Didn't... more

The photos on the hotel website is very decieving. This place is very small. Bathroom door had no lock, the room had a b.o smell that would not go away and our "balcony" was the view of the street, no garden view like it hotel website said. The room had a nice king size bed and the area was very... more

We stayed here for one night and did not get to go to sleep untill 1am. The people above us were walking around and talking. Please note that they were not having a party. Aside from the walls being paper thin, the room was very dark and dingy. We payed for a second night but decided it would only be... more

The rug in the room was actually sticky and gross, the room had a strong odor that smelled like perfume and pesticides...the hotel clerk was unaccommodating and refuse to change our room claiming there were no vacancies yet the vacancy sign was still posted and the parking lot was empty. He told me he would send housekeeping the clean the... more

We got a discount by visiting the Visitor's Center in Monterey. The motel was a tad bit confusing to find, but we finally found it! The owner was very pleasant and helpful. She provided us with suggestions on where to eat dinner and even gave us complimentary cards to some restaurants where we could get free entrees. The room was... more
