We found the staff really very helpful and friendly, the location was perfect for visiting the area, comfortable bed and room facilities with TV (many free film channels), microwave and fridge. Ideal base for exploring the area. Breakfast included in price. We shall definitely be returning! Very handy for the Monterey Jazz Festival, too! more

After making the reservation at least 6 weeks prior to our arrival, we checked in at the Monterey Econo Lodge. The lobby was dark, dingy and had a suffocating odor. We were assigned a room in a corner of the first floor. It also had a foul odor, shabby furniture, clothing left behind the dresser and a non-skid tub mat that... more

Perfectly fine for what it is; clean, comfortable. Not too noisy, considering how near the highway it is. We could hear people walking around upstairs, but that's not surprising. Location is a sort of strip with many motels. it was expensive on the Fourth of July weekend. more

We stayed here over not only July 4th long weekend, but a motorcycle weekend as well, so the area was packed and vert expensive. The hotel is a typical roadside hotel, where I was afraid to walk arond barefoot in the room. The room itself was pretty big, with a small kitchen area, a couple of burners, a fridge and... more

They cancelled my reservation on me without telling me, sold the room out from under me, didn't help me find another place to stay, and threatened to charge me a 50% cancellation fee even though I hadn't cancelled. I was running the Big Sur Half Marathon in downtown Monterey, so I booked a room at the Econolodge. A few days... more

There is a bed bug issue in #206. The bed bug issue is not really what created the low rating it was how the motel handled itself during the issue. 1. There was no one at the front desk late at night when we tried to find a new room for my friend who was eaten alive. They said it... more

The motel is right next to the motorway exit. Not exactly a nice neighbourhood to stay. Staff are not very friendly. Breakfast is basic, but there is sufficient. It is served in the small reception area and there is only one small table, so you have to eat it in your room which means you either have to take enough... more

Well, I had previously stayed at the Ramada next to the EconoLodge in Monterey and the experience was far far better. The breakfast was nicer, the staff friendlier and the room bigger. We found that the water was hot for some minutes and then it cooled down. For a girl with a long hair it is a problem to wash... more

Ok for one night. Spacious room, clean room, but pretty basic. In the premises some garbage bins were so full that the garbage was been put at its sides. Front desk provides a reception that can't be considered warm. more
