We stayed at the murphys hotel and had a fantastic weekend. My kids are 14, 12, and 6. Each of them found the hotel facinating and loved the festival. Friends recommended that I pass by Murphys, which is a sweet place on highway 4 as it heads for the Sierra foothills. I can't recommend the hotel particularly well however ... Wow! I was immediately struck by the lovely façade of the building. I could tell it would set the tone for our whole Murphy’s adventure. This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. Our room was in the newer part of the hotel. Room #305, what a terrible joke! The room was dark and you could not open the curtains because anyone walking by could just look-in. The dark carpet (it seemed filthy), was very old and should never touch someones bare feet.... more
