The Inn is overall quite clean, pleasant, and with a great breakfast (if you like to eat at 830 or later). However, noise is an issue. It is very close to the freeway, and despite the very attractive grounds it is too noisy to spend much time outside (indeed, the inn has a small sign inviting guests to come inside... more

The main reason I chose this B&B over others in Nev. City was because of the afternoon tea described in the Inn's website, which has an entire page describing said tea. It partly says "an elegant setting and partake of sumptuous savories and sweets displayed on heirloom china and crystal." The website asked that we inform the host in advance... more

We were quite pleased with this quiet B&B. The Gold Room was beautifully furnished, comfortable and very clean. The parlor was a victorian charmer. Absolutely gourmet breakfast. The Koi Pond area was nice but the yard furniture could use some spiffing up. We were given suggestions for restaurants but the italian one Villa Veniciza was not a good at all.... more

We arranged to stay in this wonderful bed and breakfast, based solely on internet research. What a great place! Owners / hosts Mary Louise and Conley gave us a great room, and the breakfast was top notch. We felt like we were at home, and the grounds of the B&B are nicely landscaped. We appreciated all the shade on several... more

The Red Castle Inn is a very nice lodge on walking distance from the city center. The rooms are very clean and the beds are fantastic!! We've had one of our best nights sleep here. In the morning you get a breakfast that you probably haven't had in weeks: delicious! The 'woman of the house' is really kind and gives... more

My wife and I returned to our favorite B & B in the Gold Country, the Red Castle Inn in beautiful Nevada City, California. We spent our wedding night there this time and it was better than the last visit, which was hard to top. Conley and Mary Louise are the friendly and attentive owners and they make sure their... more

We had a wonderful time at Red Castle Inn. The owners believe in giving you yours space and do not make you feel like you are invading their privacy. But are very willing to give you a tour of the property, share the history etc. The Breakfast was gourmet. The chef came and chatted with us and so did the... more

I have stayed at many B&Bs, but have never felt so unwelcome in all my life. It felt like we were unexpected and unwanted guests staying with distant relatives. The home is beautiful but the owners, specifically the woman, were very cold, when we did see them. We were shown to our room, but were not told how to turn... more

My husband and I spent our 23rd anniversary at the most romantic bed and breakfast ... The Red Castle Inn in Nevada City, CA., located along highway 49 in California's gold rush motherlode. The Gothic Revival, four-story Red Castle Inn was originally built as a family home at the top of Prospect Hill in 1860. Today the inn is furnished... more
