We decided to stay at the Regency because we were booking last minute and needed somewhere cheap with easy access to public transportation into San Francisco. This MOTEL (not an "inn") was a big mistake. It's located in a very seedy area of Oakland, and I (a woman) would never had felt comfortable staying there alone; even with my boyfriend with me at all times (I didn't feel comfortable with him going out on his own, either), we still ran the gauntlet between the motel and the Bart station (about 3 blocks away) rather quickly to avoid all the homeless people who would ask us for money. We never went outside at night.

The motel itself was not a respite from the neighborhood. The room does look like the picture, but there are so many other things wrong with it. The best we can say about this motel is that we were glad none of our stuff was ever stolen.
