I live about 30 miles from San Juan Bautista. I am a school teacher and like reading the reviews of places. The negatives and positives about this place made me want to see for myself. I booked a night and my partner and I went down. The place is clean and comfortable with a Spanish colonial charm. Some rooms with... more
My husband and I travelled with my mother and her friend to San Juan Bautista in mid-December 2008. We booked two connecting rooms at the Posada San Juan Batista. This hotel is not well-managed and the appearance I get is that they do not care. Both rooms had very serious problems – there was only a trickle of water in... more
Traveling to Pinnacles National Monument, we did not have many lodging options thus I booked this place. First, the good: it is located right next to the historic Mission plaza and the tiny two-block restaurant and bar district. Also, plenty of parking, decent-looking lobby and very reasonable price. The bathtub was actually kind of cool with jets and two shower... more
This truly was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Our room had no working shower, no working a/c, no hair dryer, and there was trash outside our door including a used contraceptive device. The hotel had no drinking water for guests. They advertise wifi...they do not have it. The owner was horrible and wasted over an hour of... more
We rolled into San Juan Bautista and found there were only two hotels. Since we wanted to be close to everything we chose the one on the same side of the street as all the restaurants and bars...and, of course, the mission. Ended up paying $149 plus a $20 fee for a third person. Seemed a bit much for what... more
I stayed here with a friend in April of 2008 while we were attending an event in nearby Tres Pinos. Despite our late arrival on Friday night, the front desk staff was very friendly. We had room 108 and I was pleasantly surprised by the size and decor - king bed, fireplace and a huge spa tub in the bathroom.... more
On Saturday, 29Sep07, my wife and I checked in at the Posada de San Juan, room 110, at $108 for the night. The motel and room were excellent, just what we had hoped for in a small, picturesque California town like San Juan Bautista. The room was spacious, homey, very clean, and comfortable. The motif was early California 'mission'. We... more
The location of the hotel is amazing. 25 seconds and you are in the heart of this amazing town. Great places to eat and a lot of fun to be had in the area. The hotel is older and perhaps for some that is a huge drawback (ie. no WiFi/Internet, breakfast is an afterthought, no flatsceens in the lobby) but... more
It seems the Posada is a Jeckyll and Hyde sort of place as we had a lovely stay there and didn't find any of the problems reported here. The staff was friendly and helpful; the place clean and smelled fine -- an offense that sends me away, The spa was terrific -- and huge. Ours was double the size of... more
