I stayed at this hotel because it was the most inexpensive hotel I could find close to the maker faire. The staff was excellent and so accommodating. The area is decent. The breakfast consisted of fruit, bagels, toast, cereal, juice and coffee which was fine by me. The fee wifi worked good and the parking is convenient. more

I was prepared to rate this hotel much higher, until the first half of my morning shower was COLD! I waited and waited for the hot water to come on and finally had to get in because it was getting late. Had the hot water not come on halfway through my shower I would have rated my experience here terrible. more

San Mateo ... convienent to San Francisco and SFO airport. Probably the best kept secret in that area of California. I, much like everyone else who books a stay at this hotel, chose the HoJoEx because it's cheap and close to the Convention Center. It's a very nice place to stay in. After the expesive and awful hotels in the Downton San Francisco - this one was a really nice and pleasant surprise. by all means howard johnson is not a fancy hotel. but for the price you pay, it is all well worth it. there's microwave, hairdryer, ironing board, refrigrator. i think they just renovated it recently which is why it is clean. rooms are bright, parking is well lit & very clean. linens including towels were clean & not too shabby... more
