As a young traveler I have experienced some horrifying hotels, but this hotel had even me asking for a refund. I am now in a long term relationship with a child and scary hotels are no longer acceptable. My partner and I were traveling through the Big Sur area and decided to stay here overnight and then visit Hearst Castle... more
My husband and I were traveling (minus kids) for a getaway weekend. We stayed one night at the Quality Inn San Simeon and had a great experience. Check in was quick and easy and our room was wonderful. We had a king size room, with a balcony overlooking the garden, a huge bathtub whirpool and a fireplace. The room was... more
I sometimes wonder whether I'm at the same hotel as other reviewers. I had no trouble at all at this hotel and found it a friendly and clean place to stay, albeit in need of a little updating. And the breakfast was fine (perhaps acting in the previous reviewers comments!?). I arrived in San Simeon a day early due to... more
This hotel is just okay. I don't think we would ever stay here again. The location is nice, but that is the best thing we have to say about the hotel. Believe it or not, we've stayed here three times over the past 20 years, back when it was known as the El Rey Inn. The first time was back in 1982. We stayed in the Jacuzzi Suite and was highly impressed. A two-room suite with a refrigerator and microwave. It was very comfortable and clean. Only complaint we had was... more
This was a nice, simple hotel. We stayed for one night while visiting Hearst Castle. The price was good ($63 + tax), and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very basic, but adequate. I would stay there again. more
We were disappointed with the stay here, The hotel is outdated and the grounds and surrounding area is run down. I knew as we drove up to the hotel that it was not what I expected from the photos I had seen on the hotel's website. The breakfast was nothing more than cereal and toast, very limited. There are much... more
On a three week vacation in the west, this was the worst place we stayed. My husband left his laptop power cord on the bed when we left. As soon as he discovered it was missing he called the manager and was told it wasn't there. It's probably been sold on ebay now. Kleenex dispenser was totally rusty, the toilet... more
