This is not your cute Santa Barbara B&B experience, but a good choice none the less as long as you know what you're getting. Nice property in nice residential area of SB, about a mile from the main downtown area. Rooms have a cottagey feel with some lace, etc. Great covered parking. Pool looked nice. more

I stayed at this hotel twice in the last month, each time for several days while I was visiting a medical clinic in Santa Barbara. The hotel is literally right across the street from Sansum Clinic & Cottage Hospital, and offers lodging discounts to patients. My husband and teen son stayed here for one night in March 2008. Check in was smooth. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Not much parking available. We stayed at this property the night of Feb. 16, 2008 based on a combination of rates available throughout Santa Barbara and the resounding positive reviews here. Best Westerns have always ranked as about a two-star hotel in my book. Holiday Inns a three, Sheraton/Westin/Marriott are fours. Most Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton's are fives (to give some perspective here).... more

I was looking for a nice economical place to stay in Santa Barbara for one night with a friend of mine. This fit the bill perfectly. I have recently stayed five days at Encina Motor Lodge and Suites in Santa Barbara, CA. I have done so 2-3 times annually for the past twenty-three years.
