This place is a joke. First of all, there is massive construction going on which has closed the pool and left dust everywhere. There is hammering and drilling at all hours of the day on every floor. What a special place! The staff was friendly and helpful from the moment we stepped out of the car. Loved having a relaxing glass of wine at the bar as the sun set and then savoring the afterglow from the balcony of our room. Fabulous view of the beach and ocean-great location. What a treat! more

The proximity to the beach makes up for any minor quip about this wonderful hotel. They make it a point to make the place feel warm and luxurious with out it being pretentious. The hotel is up to it's neck in refurbishment. We saw the huge dust sheets covering one side of the hotel as we arrived. We checked in, asking if we would be disturbed by work. We stayed here in February and spent 2 nights doing LA and environs as genuine tourists. The building is right on the beach at Santa Monica and is pretty much handy for everywhere.
