The hotel is good for Santa Monica where it seems there is shortage of acceptable hotels. But average and expensive by other standards. This is a pity as Santa Monica is a prime location to spend time and to explore the Los Angeles area. The number one great thing about this hotel is the individual AC units in each room. It allowed me to blast freezing air if I wanted to, which made me sleep better. The holiday inn looks old from the outside but the rooms are quite nice, clean and updated. The location is great. We stayed a weekend and did not have to rent a car because everything we needed was within walking distance- beach, pier and a variety of restaurants, movie theater and shops.
