Seaside is not Monterey but it is far cheaper to stay there than in town--about 5-10 minutes by car, depending on traffic. The Holiday Inn Express is an excellent place to stay--friendly, efficient reception, nice rooms (albeit opening onto outside corridors), and generous continental breakfast which is replenished frequently. Plentiful parking. For overnight or short break this is a modern,... more

The hotel room was nice, but small! The pool was not heated enough so my children did not want to swim. Continental breakfast was good. Staff was friendly. more

We were there for the Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca - it was very reasonably priced for the weekend (considering what the other properties were offering). We checked in after 9 and Luz the front desk agent already had our room checked in when we arrived along with keys already made. She also recommended the Chilis just right next door... more

If you're looking for a place to stay in the Monterey area, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. We've stayed in several Holiday Inn Express Hotels previously that were much better... Our key card stopped working twice. When we went to the front desk, they never apologized or actually said anything. Not even a smile...strange. Not a friendly bunch, at least... more

We live in the Central Valley of CA and with our recent heat wave we simply wanted to escape for a day or two and find a place with a pool for ouselves and our 3 year old son. We frequently go to Salinas/Monterey (my wife is originally from the area) and stay with relatives, but this time we wanted... more

My husband and I stayed at the Embassy Suites next door and they did not have a room for the additional night we wanted to stay in Monterey, so we booked a room at the Holiday Inn Express. It is an outside room motel. The rooms seemed clean but had a strange smell. Maybe too much disenfectant or trying to... more

My daughter and I stayed here while touring CSU Monterey Bay, and we were underwhelmed at both places. The hotel staff was friendly, the breakfast was fine, and the room was clean. The bathroom and sink areas were very tiny, so the room would not be ideal for more than two people, and we could hear the splashing and yelling... more

We just returned from a trip up the California Coast to look at colleges with our daughter. This was our last stop. The room was clean but very small. Had two double beds...which were not big enough. They told me double beds when I make the reservation so my fault for not moving to another hotel. With four people in... more

Stayed for two nights and found the place to be OK for the price. All the staff were friendly and helpful (from the front desk to the house keeping staff). The hotel sits right next to the Embasy Suites on the busy Del Monte Blvd. Our room did not face the main road, but I can see how this can... more

We received a good welcome here and our room was clean and comfortable enough. It was good value for money compared to hotels in central Monterey. I liked it much more than the nearby hotel we stayed in last time we were in the area. It is a short drive from the restaurants and tourist attractions in Monterey as well... more
