Nestled in the Sierra there is a place where you can get away from it and have all the comforts of home without annoying TV. Nature is the big entertainer here. A short hike to the South Yuba River and all the grandure of the Sierra. The log cabins, tent cabins, and even a Yurt are all first rate and... more

We just got home from a three night stay in cabin #6. The location is amazing, and the views from the back porch were beautiful. Everything was very clean and well maintained. We were thoroughly impressed with the attention to detail. There weren't any restaurants nearby (that were actually open for business), so we drove to Truckee a couple of... more

The cabins are nice , clean , and the hosts friendly and accomodating . However the cabins are quite close to I-80 and the road noise is loud and constant . The yurt , which is a short walk , is quieter , or maybe it's just that the Yuba River drowns out the highway noise . more

We regret that Mr. Turgidson was so put off by the road noise. The cabins are about 1/2 mile from I-80 and sometimes the road noise is louder than others, sometimes you can not hear it at all. Most people who spend a lot of time here tend to not think about it. It is an indistinct noise that, as...

This is a great place! The grounds are beautiful and the small well appointed cabins were perfect for us and our baby. It was wonderful to sit out on our deck, grill our dinner and look out at the mountains and the woods. We also had fun making a fire and cooking somores in our private fire pit. It is... more

Our stay was everything they promised. Most important was that we could take the dog (a loveable laborador). Not only was the dog welcome but there was a doggie blanket so she could get up on the bed without destroying the duvet and we didn't have to feel guilty or break any rules! We stayed in a cabin as it... more

We regret that we are no longer able to offer breakfasts. We are not renting out the main house and have nowhere the county will let us prepare them. Most of what we did was buy yogurts, fruit, OJ, and pastries from the supermarket. We have canceled the extra guest charges, so you could pick this stuff up yourself and...

The cabin was nice (no tub though) but we got the feeling we were not so welcome. Perhaps this was because they were gearing up for the snow season, but still we felt like we were somehow intruding on the owners/caretakers. more

We are so sorry to hear that you didn't receive our usual warm welcome. We only have one cabin without a jetted tub, which is cabin #4, all the other 7 are equiped with a tub. Cabin #4 was especially made for those who might have difficulties getting in & out of tubs. The week you mention was monumental in...

I agree with the other travelers who reviewed Shinneyboo. The cabins and owners are great. The setting is spectacular. Only one problem: the highway noise. I didn't expect to be able to hear the traffic from I-80. It wasn't a deal-breaker but you should be aware that this isn't a remote camping experience. more

This is the second year in a row that we've been Shinneyboo'd, and I have to admit some reluctance in posting a review since I'd love to keep this our little secret! I echo the compliments from the other reviewers -- the owners are very friendly (but not intrusive), the breakfast baskets are wonderful, and the grounds boast some of... more

My family and I stayed in cabin #7 the 3rd thru 5th of January 2007 and we had a blast. We are not really into winter sports and were just looking for a place where we could take our three year old son to play in the snow. I got to tell you I was so happy when we arrived... more

(530) 587-5160 Shinneyboo Creek Cabin If you are looking for some of the best camping around you must check out Shinneyboo Creek Cabin Resort. OK, so the name doesn't mention much about camping. Actually they do have very nice cabins nestled at the base of Donner's Pass though we didn't stay in one. Down a rough dirt road on the... more
