Our group was on a four-wheeling adventure on the Fordyce Trail in the Tahoe National forest, and we had vehicle issues that stranded us on the trail overnight; we were prepared for only a day trip. We came out of the trail, cold, tired, and weary the next morning. We called the Truckee Hotel, who graciously held three rooms for... more

We spent 4th of July weekend in Truckee, California. The Old Town part of the city is only a few blocks long and is a nice place to stay and get the feeling of "the old days". We stayed in The Truckee Hotel, which dates back to 19th century. It's still an old-style hotel with bathrooms down the hall and... more

This is a fantastic opportunity to experience an historic hotel, with separate -- private -- baths located down the hall. The entire place is fabulous, decorated and very well maintained. Now, you have to be aware that this is not a new building; if you stay during the summer months the place can be a furnace. Request a fan for... more

Me wife and I come here for our 4 year wedding anniversary. We enjoyed all the breath taking views that was around us. Lots of really friendly people in the town with great shops to have fun at. If you are a railroad fan, then this is one of the greatest places to watch the trains run by that are... more

I have stayed here once before when I was having work done on my cabin but I did not learn my leson. First, the noise. I was on the side with the train tracks and the intersection. After a day of heavy snow the plows went all night with theirs back-up beepers going. then there was the multiple trains coming... more

This hotel is really a trip. I booked the largest room for myself and 4 girl friends. We stayed in the largest room..1 twin, 1 double and 1 queen. We were suprised to find that the bathrooms were down the hall. Instead of 1 head we had 8 to chose from and they were very clean. The hotel uses steam... more

We stayed a Friday night on the third floor facing the rear of the hotel. Old hotel, with fresh paint, very clean, immaculate shared bathrooms, including two with full size baths. Lots of street noise from the train track crossing across the street, the bars across another street, and lots of boisterous people leaving the bars when closing at 2am.... more

Frequent visitor but have not stayed at this place until this past weekend. ROOM: Stayed on 4th floor, steep stairs. OK-sized room with basic accomodations (bed, dresser, sink). Other: pipe stove for heat, double-sized bed, window facing town that actually opened & floor didn't slope. Very basic. Remember...you are staying at a very old hotel. BATHROOM: shared in the hallway,... more

Having lived in Truckee some years ago, I was familiar with this hotel and the restaurant located downstairs in the same building. I had some time to visit family still living in Truckee, so I decided to book a room for three nights. I contacted the property directly, and the lady I corresponded with made a reservation for me at... more
