My husband and I stumbled upon this place after dropping our kids off at camp. We were shopping at a little boutique in Freestone and the owner referred us to Rocker Oysterfellers for dinner. We had a wonderful meal of oysters, fresh salad and great company. We asked the bartender if he knew of a dog friendly hotel in the... more

If you're looking for a quaint and charming hotel, the Valley Ford is it. It's small hotel (only 6 rooms) in a historic 1864 building. The rooms were spotless, and the simple yet rustic decor was exactly what we were looking for. There are no TV's, which is nice for a change, and the beds were VERY comfortable. Coffee was... more

Travelling up Highway 1 we saw the vacancy sign on the Valley Ford Hotel and boy were we in for a treat! We sat down to a 5 star meal of local foods, cheeses, wine, oysters, unbelievable. The experience was like being cooked for in your neighbor's kitchen... This is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city... more

We actually stayed in the VF Hotel before it was officially open. My father was a resident of Valley Ford, and passsed away in May of 2005. We needed a place to stay and even though they weren't open for business Dave Allen (the owner) and his partners Carlos and Andrew opened their doors for us made us a lovely... more

Creative, original edibles. Spa just down the road apeice is second to none. Lovely beaches & wine tours nearby. Looking forward to our next visit! more

We arrived at the Valley Ford Hotel/Rocker Oysterfeller's late afternoon after a long car trip. The rooms are quaint, inviting and very clean. There are no telephones or televisions which suit us just fine. The bar scene was fun with lots of friendly locals with which to strike up conversations. Dinner was excellent with 'downhome' flavors and generous portions. We... more

I was really looking forward to staying at this hotel--the location is prime for beachgoers and general outing to see historic and classical Sonoma seacoats. The only thing wrong was that the dining/kitchen area is below the rooms, expecially the room that I was in. I had to call the hotel desk area around11:30pm, to ask if the noise could... more

We were pushed along Highway 1 after dark and didn't find a place for the night. Not only was this the first one available for a reasonable price, the staff was also friendly and the dining of good quality. It is definitely a charming place and am happy to have stayed there. more

We were looking for a quiet place to meet up with friends from Southern California and friends from Vermont. Since we were all in the wine country, we looked for a place with lodging and a restaurant. Did we find a "gem" in Valley Ford Hotel! The hotel itself has a history behind it dating back more than 100 years.... more
